Derek continues to distinguish himself as a go-to lawyer for Aboriginal Law in all its forms. He acts for First Nations communities throughout Atlantic Canada on such issues as treaty implementation, environmental impacts of major energy and resource projects, and self-government. Derek is presently the lead negotiator for several New Brunswick First Nations in tri-lateral negotiations regarding treaty implementation in that province.
His work as an associate lawyer exemplified Derek's work ethic and intellect. The Burchells partnership will benefit from those same qualities.
