May 2011

Incoming articled clerk Lauren Grant has been honoured not only with a profile in this month's Dalhousie News, but also as the 2011 winner of The Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie's Judge Corinne E. Sparks Award.  The annual award, established by the Dalhousie Black Law Students Association, celebrates students that are committed to using their legal education as a tool for change in their community, whose personal and academic endeavours most accurately reflect Judge Sparks' spirit of leadership and community service.  Congratulations Lauren, we look forward to your arrival next month!

We take great pride in congratulating our 2010-11 articled clerks, Raman Khabra and Tiffany Robertson, on successfully completing both the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society's onerous skills course, and the bar exam.  Now nothing more than a waistcoat, robe and tabs stand between them and their call to the bar next month!

With Naiomi Metallic's at-large seat win on May 2, and Michael Wood's election in April, Burchells is proud and humbled to have two lawyers on the Nova Scotia Barristers Society's Bar Council.  Our gratitude goes out to all the lawyers who generously offered to sit on Council, and congratulations to those who were elected.
