Burchells’ Response to Coronavirus / COVID-19

Like you, Burchells LLP has been watching, planning for and adjusting to the COVID-19 pandemic as it develops.

We have already taken proactive steps to protect our clients, business partners, lawyers, staff, families, and the community. Those steps continue, with the aim of maintaining both a safe environment, and the level of service our clientele expects and deserves.

Safety.  We are prioritizing social distancing with things like robust teleconferencing capacity, ensuring secure outside access to our servers, and secure electronic document transfer capability.  If a face-to-face meeting is not strictly necessary we can avoid it.  Additional cleaning protocols have been put in place for our offices, and we have instituted restrictions on business travel. We are fortunate to have the resources to require all Burchells people returning from international travel to work from home.

Continuity.  Even with contingencies in place, Burchells can continue to provide services without interruption.  We have the bandwidth to allow all Burchells lawyers and professionals to work from outside the office, if necessary, with full access to the firm’s files and systems.  We are taking the steps necessary to prepare for the possibility, likely or unlikely, that our work cannot be done at our regular office premises.

These are difficult and extraordinary times, and things seem to be changing fast.  Burchells will continue to manage our response to COVID-19 with the guidance of Health Canada and our commitment to a safe and healthy community.  Stay well.
